New Brighton

Lots of drugs

An officer stopped a car the evening of June 11 at Old Highway 8 and County Road D after seeing it had a broken brake light and a passenger inside it was not wearing a seatbelt; all three occupants ended up in the Ramsey County Jail. The driver, a 25-year-old Redwood Falls man, gave police a fake name before it was found he had two outstanding warrants and drug paraphernalia on his person — a search of the car turned up another pipe and heroin. A 36-year-old Minneapolis woman in the car had a fake ID but she was later identified; she was found in possession of needles, an Altoids container with crack cocaine in it, and brass knuckles. She said she’d ingested two packets of heroin prior to the stop so she was held overnight at the hospital before jail. A 53-year-old Minneapolis man in the car was booked at the jail after heroin was found in his jacket.

Ninth hole blues

An employee at the Brightwood Hills Golf course in the 1900 block of Silver Lake Road told police the morning of June 15 that someone overnight had damaged the green and a chair on the ninth hole. It all should cost about $100 to repair.

Smoking counterfeiters

An employee at the pizza place in the 2000 block of Silver Lake Road took in a fake $100 bill the night of June 16, only realizing after he’d given the couple that passed it off $90.34 in change and watched them smoke outside the store before taking off without their order. Police found the “cash” was an actual $10 bill, which had been washed to look like it had more value.

Theft

A report of theft came out of the health and rehab center in the 800 block of First Avenue the morning of June 14. A 67-year-old man had reported the theft of two cans of Mountain Dew, 75 cents and a snack-size bag of Chex Mix from his room.

The others said their cars had been rummaged through, reporting the loss of a purse and other items.

Hit and run and caught

An 85-year-old White Bear Lake woman witnessed the afternoon of June 13 a van hit her truck as it was parked in the 1000 Red Fox Road; the van then drove off without accounting for the accident. St. Anthony

Bicycle serendipity

An 88-year-old man told police June 8 that someone stole his bicycle from outside his apartment building in the 3200 block of Diamond Eight Terrace while he was bringing groceries into his house. Two days later while responding to a medical call in the 3800 block of Foss Road at a different apartment complex, officers found the bike inside the building — the serial number was a match. A 28-year-old man claimed he’d found the bike abandoned, but police weren’t buying it and issued him a citation for misdemeanor theft.

Business burglary

An officer responded to a sounding alarm at a business located in the 3500 block of 29th Avenue June 5, and found a shattered window and a garage door completely broken out. The only reported loss was $400 worth of cigarettes; the burglar caused roughly $300 worth of damage.

Full cart

A man walked out of the Cub Foods with a cart full of merchandise without paying June 5 before anybody could stop him. An employee did manage to jot down the license plate number of the vehicle he left in. Police have attempted to contact the owner of the car, a 34-year-old man, so far to no avail.

Indecent exposure

Police arrested, cited and then released a 26-year-old man for two separate incidents of indecent exposure June 9 at the Cub Foods in the 3900 block of Silver Lake Road. The man twice was seen by employees exposing himself, so he was given two citations.

Lot lurker at Gross

Mounds View officers then came and arrested the driver and a passenger, who were booked at the Ramsey County Jail for felony mail theft.

Warrant arrest

Police picked up a 38-year-old man June 7 at Stinson and St. Anthony boulevards who was wanted on a Department of Corrections warrant for first-degree aggravated robbery. He was booked at the Ramsey County Jail.
