Painting on the Lawn with David Geister

 

The Dakota County Historical Society will host Painting on the Lawn at the Sibley Historic Site in Mendota, Minn., on Thursday, June 20. The event will start a 3:30 p.m. and conclude at 6:30 p.m. 

Admission to the event is $40 per person, or $35 for members of the Dakota County Historical Society, Minnesota Historical Society, and Friends of the Sibley Historic Site. Admission includes one free drink ticket during the event. To use a drink ticket, you must be 21 and older.

The Sibley Historic Site is located at 1357 Sibley Memorial Highway in Mendota, Minn. Registration is limited, so contact the Sibley site at 651-452-1596 to reserve a spot. For more information, or to reserve online, please visit www.dakotahistory.org. 

Spend an afternoon with artist David Geister for this structured wine and paint night. The afternoon will include instruction from Geister about painting, materials to create your own masterpiece, and a tour of the site while your finished product dries. Attendees will paint the landscape, as you sit outdoors and overlook the grounds of the Sibley Site.

Geister is a Minneapolis-based artist that specializes in historical art, picture book illustrations and landscape paintings. He has worked as a costumed interpreter at Historic Fort Snelling and continued his passion for historical art most recently with “World War One America” paintings during the Minnesota Historical Society’s “WW1 America” exhibit.
