Arden Hills

Disorderly teens

The Mounds View High School resource police officer and deputies responded May 16 just as the school day was ending to a report of a group of teenagers who did not attend Mounds View High causing problems on school grounds, located in the 1900 block of Lake Valentine Road. The group refused to leave and the teens were given trespass notices; the case was turned over to the county attorney for possible charges.


Dumpster fire

Deputies responded the night of May 16 to flames coming out of a dumpster outside a home that’s under construction in the 3400 block of Snelling Avenue. The Lake Johanna Fire Department came and put out the dumpster fire.



Falcon Heights

False alarm

A 24-year-old St. Paul woman told police the afternoon of May 14 that someone had assaulted and attempted to kidnap her in the 1500 block of Larpenteur Avenue; following a quick investigation it was found the report was unfounded.



A 26-year-old woman told police May 13 that she was receiving harassing text messages and that someone had flattened tires on her car, rummaged through it and stolen from it.



Little Canada

Counterfeit bill

Employees at the HOM Furniture in the 3200 block of Country Drive reported May 13 that the day prior someone had passed off a fake $100 bill. Police are investigating.


If the dog barks ...

Fed up with a dog whose barking had been carrying over the lake for an hour and a half, a person who lives in the 3300 block of Twin Lake Court called the sheriff’s department about the animal’s noise around 10:50 p.m. on May 14. The responding deputy didn’t hear the barking.


Much drugs

A deputy conducting a traffic stop the night of May 12 at County Road D and Edgerton Street arrested a teenage boy after a large amount of suspected narcotics were found in his car. Police are investigating.


Rogue raccoon

A caller who lives in the 600 block of County Road B2 called the sheriff’s office a half hour before midnight on May 12 to report a raccoon at their patio door. The caller was helped over the phone, and the raccoon was “dispatched.” The person called a pest control company to remove the carcass.


Stolen, not stolen

A deputy stopped a car the night of May 18 that had been reported as stolen out of Little Canada in the 100 block of Demont Avenue. The driver, a 46-year-old man, was also the car’s owner; he’d managed to recover his formerly stolen car on his own.



Goldendoodle on the loose

A goldendoodle dog known to live in the area of Emmet D. Williams Elementary School in the 900 block of County Road D was on the loose around lunchtime May 14. A deputy arrived and captured the dog, returning it to its owner, an 82-year-old man who lives on Owasso Street. 


School bus fire

Deputies headed to the 100 block of Wendy Court the afternoon of May 16 on a report of a school bus on fire. All had safely gotten off the bus, and the driver had attempted to use a fire extinguisher to put out the flames; the Lake Johanna Fire Department showed up and finished the job. A second bus came and transported everybody who needed a ride.


Stolen Buick

A 71-year-old man told police the night of May 17 that his 2007 Buick Lacrosse was stolen from his driveway, located in the 4800 block of Kent Drive, sometime that day.



Police reports out of Lauderdale, New Brighton and St. Anthony were not available this week.

• May 20 in the 2000 block of Albemarle Street

• May 20 in the 2400 block of Albert Street

• May 20 at Von Maur


Motor vehicle thefts were reported:

Shoplifting was reported:

• May 16 at Har Mar Mall (three reports)

• May 17 at Har Mar Mall

• May 17 at JCPenney



Driving while intoxicated was reported:

• May 18 at Rice Street and Highway 36

Shots were reportedly fired:

• May 17 in the 100 block of Larpenteur Avenue

• May 18 in the 900 block of Lovell Avenue
