NEWSBRIEF: Lake Elmo Park Reserve and other Washington County beaches will open May 25

The Washington County Parks beaches at Big Marine Park Reserve, Lake Elmo Park Reserve, Point Douglas Park, St. Croix
Bluffs Regional Park and Square Lake County Park will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. beginning May 25.
Beaches will be guarded daily at Lake Elmo Park Reserve until Labor Day. Big Marine beaches will be guarded weekends
only from May 25 to Aug. 18. Square Lake Park and Point Douglas Park beaches will be guarded the first two weekends
after opening and then daily starting June 10.

St. Croix Bluffs has an unguarded beach on the St. Croix River that may be
open or closed depending on the river level.
To ensure a safe and fun experience, remember the following:

• All swimmers are responsible for their own health and safety. 

• Parents/adults have an added responsibility for all children
under their care. 

• Swimming facilities are inherently dangerous. 

• Follow all rules and regulations. 

• Never swim alone. 

• All children must be supervised when in the water. 

• Coast Guard-approved life jackets are the only flotation devices allowed

•No pets, alcohol or glass containers are allowed. 

• Smoking is not allowed on the beaches. 

• Stay back on the grass away from others.
