Renting books from a smartphone

Inquiring minds

Each week the staff at the Roseville Library answers more than 2,500 questions on every subject under the sun. Here is one of the most interesting ones they’ve gotten lately.

Q. Can I rent a book electronically for my smartphone?

A. The Ramsey County Library subscribes to e-books through a digital service called CloudLibrary, and makes e-audio books available through RBDigital. Both of these services have apps that can be used with iPhones and most Android phones. To get started, go to the “Downloads” link on the Library’s homepage, www.rclreads.org. There you can find links to both of those services, as well as links to tutorials on how to get started. You may also be interested in the hands-on information session for e-readers that is offered at the Roseville Library every Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. Our librarians can give you more information.
