Falling rain, coupled with already-fallen snow, collapsed a section of the Cattle Barn’s roof at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds in Falcon Heights the evening of March 12. No one, human nor animal, was reportedly in the near 100-year-old structure at the time. Fair officials think snow sliding from a higher section of the roof caused the damage. Crushing snow that started in February and carried into March, prior to the start of a welcome thaw, was the cause of many issues throughout the state.
