St. Croix Lutheran high school principal Ric Gibson was named winner of the 2019 Minnesota Independent School Forum (MISF) Leadership Award. He will be recognized at the 11th Annual Private and Independent Education Awards on Sunday, April 28 at the University of St. Thomas. People recognized at this awards celebration exemplify the strengths of MISF schools, the support of the community, and the many notable efforts to improve K-12 education in Minnesota.

“Ric’s willingness to embrace, develop, and implement new initiatives in education have had a long-lasting impact on the ministry of St. Croix Lutheran. He was integral in the early stages of the middle school startup, the growth and development of the international program, and our chapel band,” remarks President Todd Russ. “Ric’s youthful enthusiasm, professional demeanor, servant leadership, can-do attitude, and selfless support of the students is contagious. He truly epitomizes the heartbeat of St. Croix Lutheran.”

Gibson came to SCL in 1999 to serve as the communications director and recruitment coordinator. In 2001, he was promoted to high school principal, and in 2006 served as the interim president.
