There was a new mayor for the day on March 4 in South St. Paul. Olivia Saver, 11, was selected as this year’s Mayor for a Day after writing an essay on what she would do if she held the seat for 24 hours — it included cleaning up parks, lakes, streets and rivers. She also said she would have “more bigger parks and more organized activities outside for children.” As mayor for the day, Saver and a couple friends toured various city facilities including the police department and Doug Woog Arena, and she helped start that night’s city council meeting.
