Getting library materials from outside Ramsey County

Inquiring minds

Each week the staff at the Roseville Library answers more than 2,500 questions on every subject under the sun. Here is one of the most interesting ones they’ve gotten lately.

Q. I was unable to find a book in your online catalog in the Ramsey County system. Is there a way that I can request it from other library systems?

A.

You can request books yourself from outside of our library system if you go to the website of the MnLINK Gateway at www.mnlink.org

MnLINK is a catalog of the holdings of most of the libraries in Minnesota, and you can use your Ramsey County Library card to request materials through them for delivery at our library system. In a week or two, you should be able to pick up the requested item at your home library.

You can use the MnLINK system on a self-service basis if you prefer, but if you’d rather get some help in looking for your materials, our staff is always available. Just give us a call or stop by the Information Desk on your next visit to the library. If you don’t find what you want in MnLINK, we can also request books from libraries outside of Minnesota. Audio visual material, however, cannot be requested from outside of Minnesota.
