Messing with Monsters

From 10:30 to 11:15 a.m., on Oct. 29, erase the fear and highlight the fun of monsters at this interactive storytelling event presented by The Story Man from England. Open to kids ages 2 to 8, this will take place at the West St. Paul Library, 199 Wentworth Ave.

 

Middle School Monday

Stop by after school to make your own glow-in-the-dark and spooky slime. This is for kids in grades sixth through eighth, and it will run from 3 to 4 p.m., Oct. 29 at Inver Glen Library, 8098 Blaine Ave. E.

 

Homework Help

Work with a volunteer tutor for help with homework assignments in any subject. Open to students through 12-grade, no appointment necessary. It will run from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Inver Glen Library, 8098 Blaine Ave. E.

 

Georgia O’Keeffe Discovery

Learn about the artwork of Georgia O’Keeffe, her use of space, color and natural surroundings to paint your own O’Keeffe inspired watercolor art. This is presented by the Eagan Art House. Registration is required, and it will run from 6 to 8 p.m., on Nov. 1 at the South St. Paul Library, 106 Third Ave. N. Call 651-554-3240 for more information. 

 

Helping Students Succeed Workshop 

Helping Students Succeed is a free two-hour workshop that provides information to parents of school-age children about special education services, the evaluation process, Individualized Education Programs (IEP), 504 plans, accommodations and modifications. The workshop, sponsored by NAMI Minnesota (National Alliance on Mental Illness) will be held in West St. Paul on Nov. 1, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Wentworth Library, 199 Wentworth Ave. E.  To register, please contact NAMI at 651-645-2948 or go to “classes” at namimn.org.

 

Pumpkin Prints

From Nov. 2, learn about the parts of a pumpkin and then create prints using paper, paint, and pumpkins. Please dress for mess. Registration is required. Turtles and Snakes

Discover the fascinating world of turtles, snakes and other reptiles and amphibians. From 10 to 11 a.m., meet these animals and get the chance to touch the scales, slime and shells at Dodge Nature Center, 365 Marie Ave. W., West St. Paul, on Nov. 3. Fall Makers Market

Visit Henry Sibley High School, 1897 Delaware Ave. Mendota Heights, for the TriDistrict Fall Makers Market hosted by TriDistrict Community Education.
From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Nov. 3, artists, makers, crafters, creators and vendors of specialty merchandise will fill the gym for you to conveniently shop all in one place. There is free parking and admission to all. The Henry Sibley Girls Basketball Boosters will be operating the concession stand.

 

Indoor Mirco Drone Racing

First Person View (FPV) enables you to get immersed in the action of flying. Safe for kids and indoors, micro drone racing is exciting to see. From 1 to 4 p.m., Nov. 3, race around the South St. Paul Library, 106 Third Ave. N., and set up screens to see inside the action. Watch the races and try out a micro drone yourself. All ages are welcome. 

 

 

The Long Road to Publishing

Learn how to prepare your book to be published and how to maximize your publishing success. Various options will be presented and discussed, and published author Kristin Van Risseghem will offer basic advice on how to promote yourself and your writing. Registration required.
