Burglary

A 64-year-old woman who lives in the 1400 block of Arden Oaks Drive told police Sept. 12 that she’d woken up that day to find her sliding glass door open and her purse missing. The handbag contained $220 cash and a credit card.

 

Car, taken

A 49-year-old woman told police Sept. 14 that her SUV, which had been parked in an underground garage in the 3200 block of Lake Johanna Boulevard with the keys inside it, had been stolen.

 

Outta there

Loss prevention at the Cub Foods in the 3700 block of Lexington Avenue told police Sept. 11 they saw a man leave the store with $47.64 worth of stuff he hadn’t paid for.

Purse stuffer

A man was caught Sept. 14 stuffing socks and cosmetics into a purse at a store in the 2600 block of Rice Street.

Keeping the peace

Officers headed to the 5000 block of Wellington Avenue Sept. 9 after being called there to help mediate a dispute between neighbors about parking and other issues.

 

Nothing but trouble

Someone called the police Sept. 12 at about 4:30 a.m. to report a man breaking windows at a home located in the 2100 block of Hillview Road. Officers arrested the window breaker, a 29-year-old Minneapolis man, who was arrested for a raft of offenses, including felony criminal property damage, giving false information to police and multiple outstanding warrants.

 

 

New Brighton

Hacksaw-toting thief?

A 35-year-old man told police Sept. 11 that someone had sawed open his car’s roof bike rack — it was worth $175 — and went on to steal his $375 bike. The theft occurred in the 900 block of County Road D.

 

Phone freak

Employees at the SuperAmerica in the 2000 block of Silver Lake Road told police Sept. 11 that a man stole $393 worth of phone accessories.

 

There are many reasons to lock the car

A small string of thefts happened overnight into Sept. 13 in which a prowler opened unlocked cars and stole the garage door openers from inside them. The thief’s potential next steps are clear — find the garage doors the openers open, and steal more. The thefts all happened in the early morning hours and the three reports came out of the 200 block of 17th Avenue SW; the 100 block of 16th Avenue NW; and the 1600 block of Third Street SW.

 

Up the creek

A 65-year-old woman told police someone opened up her tarped boat stored in the 500 block of Silver Lake Road sometime between Sept. 11 and 13 and stole her $1,500 trolling motor and a $200 depth finder.

 

 

Shoreview

Bike theft

A 42-year-old woman told police Sept. 15 that someone stole a $570 bike from outside her garage in the 5700 block of Deer Trail West.

 

Computer jacker

A thief entered a 70-year-old man’s unlocked home in the 900 block of Robinhood Place overnight into Sept. 15 and stole the man’s $300 laptop.

 

Locker room theft

Someone made off with a 72-year-old man’s wallet, which contained $200 cash, credit cards and his hearing aid, worth $5,000, from a locker at the YMCA in the 3700 block of Lexington Avenue as reported Sept. 13. It’s unclear if the locker was properly locked.

 

Wait for it

A 35-year-old man told police someone entered his unlocked car parked in the 900 block of Monterey Court sometime overnight into Sept. 16 and stole his garage door opener.
