NEWSBRIEF: Winter Carnival seeking applications for the next Queen of the Snows

Applications are now being accepted for the 2019 St. Paul Winter Carnival Queen of Snows Candidate program. Since 1886, the Queen of Snows Candidate program has offered women an exciting and unique opportunity to participate in “The Coolest Celebration on Earth.”

Each January, five women are chosen to serve as Aurora, Queen of the Snows and the North, East, West and South Wind Princesses. These five women of the Carnival Legend’s Royal Family will serve as goodwill ambassadors for their sponsors, the St. Paul Winter Carnival and the City of St. Paul throughout the year.

“As an ambassador for the City of St. Paul, I’ve been able to showcase what I love most about our Saintly City and the Winter Carnival,” says Jilla Nadimi, 2018 St. Paul Winter Carnival Queen of the Snows. “I’ve supported the causes I am most passionate about while learning firsthand about the wonderful, diverse work that is being accomplished in our community!”

The Queen of Snows program is open to all women. There are no restrictions with regard to marital status, dependents, place of residence or employment status. The minimum requirements are to be 21 years of age by Coronation Day — Jan. 25, 2019 — and to be a high school graduate.
