School start time meeting

The South St. Paul School Board will continue discussion about the school start time committee’s findings and request for more clarity around financial and programmatic impacts at the Committee-of-the-Whole meeting on Sept. 24 at 5 p.m. at district offices, 104 Fifth Ave. S.

 

Galaxy in a jar

Kids in grades sixth through eighth are welcome to stop by the Inver Glen Library, 8098 Blaine Ave. E, Sept. 24 from 3 to 4 p.m., to make their own galaxy in a jar.

 

Apples for 

picking

Join Dodge Nature Center on an apple orchard hike to learn about the varieties of this tasty treat Sept. 25 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Each participant can pick a dozen apples to take home. The cost is $10 per participant. It will take place at Dodge Nature Center Farm Education Entrance 3, 1701 Charlton St., West St. Paul. Greenwood Tree

Greenwood Tree is the duo of Stu Janis and Bill Cagley. From 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Sept. 24, hear interesting information about their unusual instruments and enjoy their sprightly reels and jigs, sweet waltzes and humor at the South St. Paul Library, 106 Third Ave. N.

 

Smartphone photography

Learn how to see using your Smartphone camera and capture unique and artistic photographs. Discover the principles that take your photography from ordinary to remarkable. Simple and intuitive editing skills, with a concentration on creating high quality photographs, will help you find your own original style. Please bring your Smartphone with you to class. Register by Sept. 24. Sessions will run on Mondays from Oct. 1 through 29 from 1 to 3 p.m. The cost for the five-class series is $35 and it will take place at Thompson Park Activity Center, 1200 Stassen Lane, West st. Light painting

Drop in anytime from 6 to 8 p.m., Sept. 26, at the West St. Paul Library, 199 Wentworth Ave. E, to create stunning long-exposure images in the dark using only a handheld light and a digital camera. This is geared for ages 12 and older. 

 

WSP Ward 2 forum

Women of West St. Paul is hosting a forum for candidates seeking election to West St. Paul City Council Ward 2. The forum will be held Sept. 25 from 7 to 8 p.m., in council chambers, 1616 Humboldt Ave. West St. Paul residents can submit candidate questions by emailing womenofwsp@gmail.com

 

Shred event

Do you have sensitive documents that need to be safely and securely recycled? Be part of the Shred Event on Sept. 26 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Wakota Federal Credit Union, 1151 Southview Boulevard, in South St. Paul.  This is one of the safest and secure ways to recycle your sensitive documents. It is free and open to the community and there is no limit. The event is sponsored by the City of South St. Paul, Dakota County, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, and Wakota Federal Credit Union.

 

 

Maintaining a healthy brain

Join Gramercy Park Co-Op for this informative, fun and interactive presentation. Learn about ways to promote brain health, which impacts everything we do.  Presented by Marysue Moses from Ebenezer Management from 7 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 26 at Gramercy Park Co-op, 5688 Brent Ave., Inver Grove Heights.
