Longtime Roseville resident Bob King, a 30-year member of the North Suburban Kiwanis Club of St. Paul, was honored as the recipient of the Division 7 Star Award at the Minnesota-Dakotas Kiwanis district convention held Aug. 10-12 in Willmar.

King has actively participated in the club as a past president, board member, chairperson of numerous committees and as a former district lieutenant governor overseeing 23 Kiwanis clubs, previously winning the Distinguished Lieutenant Governor award. He instituted the Beginning Reader bookshelves at the Roseville and Shoreview libraries, which was a program that provided a continuous supply of new books for over six years.

He served many years as an assistant scout master and council member, and coached Roseville youth hockey. A U.S. Navy veteran, he earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota and was a dedicated 40-year employee of Deluxe Corporation.

King has been a Meals on Wheels volunteer for over 10 years and actively involved in his church for more than 50 years.
