Theft

A 23-year-old woman who lives in the 1500 block of Larpenteur Avenue told police Aug. 2 that someone stole $300 cash from her purse that was inside her house.

 

Lauderdale

Arrest

Officers noticed a suspicious vehicle parked at apartments in the 1600 block of Carl Street July 24 so they checked it out. A passenger in the car, a 20-year-old man, was searched and then arrested and booked at the Hennepin County Jail for a Hennepin County warrant for carrying a gun without a permit.

 

Stolen bike

A 55-year-old woman who lives in the 1700 block of Eustis Street told police July 27 that someone stole a bike from her garage, likely because she left the garage door open overnight. The bike’s worth $400.

 

Little Canada

Ammo shoplifter

A 21-year-old Maplewood man got caught at 9:18 a.m. on Aug. 1 at Joe’s Sporting Goods in the first block of County Road B East attempting to steal a box of 9mm firearm ammunition. He was cited for misdemeanor theft.

 

Fight?

Deputies headed to a sports bar in the 2500 block of Rice Street just prior to bar close Aug. 5 on a report of a fight, but once there the police got the people involved to disperse.

 

Scrappers’ delight

A 56-year-old woman told police Aug. 2 someone had stolen the catalytic converter from her car as it was parked in the first block of County Road B2 East. Thieves take the exhaust system part from vehicles because it contains a number of valuable metals, which they sell to unscrupulous scrap metal buyers.

 

Vehicle theft

A 35-year-old woman reported the theft of her car from a business parking lot in the 200 block of Little Canada Road the afternoon of Aug. 6.
 

Mounds View

Extending July 4

Officers headed to the 5200 block of Skiba Drive around 7 p.m. July 29 on a fireworks complaint. They found an adult man who’d been lighting them off, gave him a warning and confiscated his fireworks stash.

 

Missing car

A person who lives in the 5400 block of Jackson Drive called the police the morning of July 31 to report their car stolen. It turns out the car had been towed, and the vehicle and owner were reunited.

 

Missing cat

A resident who lives in the 7700 block of Greenwood Drive called the police July 31 to report their cat’d gone missing.

 

On the prowl

Officers received a report of a suspicious person in the area of Woodlawn Drive and Sherwood Road around 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 2. They tracked the person down, who said they were searching for injured cats, which they planned to take to the Humane Society.

 

Sweet poetry

A dog, found in the 7600 block of Greenfield Avenue July 30, was reunited with its owner.

Opossum invasion

Three deputies headed to the 600 block of Harriet Avenue the night of Aug. 2 to help with a hissing opossum that had somehow gotten into a resident’s home and had taken refuge behind the TV.

 

Stolen car

A 79-year-old woman reported the theft of her unlocked car the morning of Aug. 5. It’d been parked in her garage in the 100 block of Galtier Plaza.

 

Theft

A 42-year-old woman told police Aug. 5 someone had gotten into her vehicle overnight as it was parked in the 800 block of Gramsie road and stolen $25 cash and her ID badge.
 

A 30-year-old man told police Aug. 1 that someone had opened an unlocked trailer at a work site at Dale and Arner streets and stolen a $2,000 generator.

 

St. Anthony

Lock cutters ...

A construction worker building the addition to Wilshire Park Elementary School in the 3600 block of Highcrest Road told police July 23 that someone cut a lock on a construction trailer and stole a number of tools, their value unknown.

 

Secured Social Security

A person who lives in the 2900 block of Silver Lake Road called the police July 26 after she found two Social Security cards outside her home. Officers contacted the owners of the cards, which were stolen out of Rosemount. The cards were returned; Rosemount PD was told of the recovery.

 

Smoking inthe boys room

An employee at the Cub Foods in the 3900 block of Silver Lake Road called the police July 27 because they thought someone was smoking narcotics in a bathroom. Police came and arrested a 28-year-old man, who apparently had heroin in his possession. He was booked at the Hennepin County Jail for fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance.

 

Sexual assault

The mother of a 37-year-old woman told police July 26 that her daughter, a vulnerable adult, had been sexually assaulted by an acquaintance, a 39-year-old man. Police are investigating.

 

One summer night

Officers saw a man apparently vomit in a yard July 29 in the 2800 block of 34th Avenue, though a sober woman who was with him told them they were fine and did not need help. Later, officers saw the guy lying in the grass, so they checked things out. The man refused to provide his date of birth but officers figured out he was 20; while they tried to arrest him, he didn’t follow orders. He registered a .18 blood alcohol concentration and was released to a sober friend with citations for obstructing the police, false information to police and underage consumption of alcohol.

 

That same night an 18-year-old woman called the police from the same block to say she could find neither her father’s car nor its keys; Dad, 59, confirmed his 2011 Volvo had been stolen. The car’s worth $10,000.
