Stolen Civic

A popular car among thieves, a 1998 black Honda Civic that belongs to a 50-year-old man was reported as stolen July 30 from the 1300 block of County Road D.

 

They’re ... moving out

A 54-year-old woman told police July 25 that as two tenants were recently moving out of a rental on County Road D they took items that didn’t belong to them and damaged property.

Lauderdale

Stolen bike

A 30-year-old man told police July 19 his Kawasaki motorcycle, worth $3,000, was stolen from his place in the 2300 block of Larpenteur Avenue.

 

Theft

A 31-year-old woman told police July 19 that a 20-year-old male acquaintance visited her apartment in the 1500 block of Eustis Street and after he left, her work backpack, containing her cell phone, laptop, jewelry and passport had gone missing. The case is pending further additional investigation.

Arrest

Police arrested a 27-year-old Bloomington man in the 200 block of Stratford Avenue the night of July 25 for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, the sale or possession of a controlled substance and for first-degree assault.

 

People on bikes

Officers checked the 5400 block of Landmark Circle around 3 a.m. July 24 following a report of people riding bicycles in the area.

 

Who camps there?

Officers checked out a tent in the park area behind the 2200 block of Knoll Drive the afternoon of July 28, though it appeared the tent had been abandoned for some time. They called Public Works to clean up the former apparent campsite.

 

New Brighton

Caught counterfeits

Two men tried to use fake $50 bills at Beisswenger’s Hardware located in the 1800 block of Old Highway 8 on July 27, but employees called them on the counterfeits and they left.

 

Stolen package

A 52-year-old man told police July 28 someone had stolen a package from his doorstep in the 24 hours prior that contained a three-ton jack and other items, a loss of $150.

 

Valuables left in unlocked car

A 45-year-old man told police the morning of July 30 someone entered his unlocked car as it was parked overnight in the 1400 block of 18th Avenue NW and stole his iPhone 6, wireless headphones, two kindles, $40 cash and his credit cards.

 

Shoreview

Burglary

A 38-year-old woman told police she believes she left the back door unlocked to her home in the 4100 block of Sylvia Lane overnight into July 30. Someone entered through it, and stole $4,000 worth of property, including two laptops, an Apple Watch, an iPhone, a DSLR camera and flashes, and credit cards.

 

Prowler

A man called the police the morning of July 26 from the 1200 block of Sunview Court to report that someone had stood outside his window with a flashlight the previous night.

 

Summer bummer

A 43-year-old man reported July 25 the theft of his trolling motor and two batteries from his boat that was parked in a covered garage in the 700 block of County Road F.

 

Tequila theft

Just after noon on July 25 two men entered the Kowalski’s Market in the 400 block of Highway 96 and stole a $43 bottle of Patrón tequila.

 

Theft

A 57-year-old woman told police July 28 that someone had stolen $3,000 worth of merchandise from her vendor tent set up at a market in the 3600 block of Victoria Street sometime overnight.

 

St. Anthony

Computer in unlocked car

A 23-year-old man told police someone entered his unlocked car overnight into July 16 as it was parked in the 4000 block of Silver Lake Road and stole his laptop. Using the computer’s GPS, it was located at a Minneapolis address, for which police got a warrant to search, but by the time they got there the laptop was gone.

 

Drug deal

Someone reported a possible drug deal July 21 taking place in the 3000 block of Old Highway 8 so police checked it out. They found a 39-year-old man and searched him, coming up with methamphetamine and more than $1,000 cash. The man as booked at the Hennepin County Jail for fifth-degree possession and police are looking to seize the money.

 

Futuristic fraud

A 28-year-old man told police July 16 that someone had taken $900 from his bank account using Venmo, a phone app for monetary transactions. The man said he didn’t know who the person was who received the money, and the case is pending further investigation.

 

Home invasion

A 39-year-old man and woman told police July 16 that they chased an intruder out of their home in the 4000 block of Silver Lake Terrace. The person had entered the home through the garage and managed to steal a purse containing cash, keys and credit cards, before running off prior to officers arriving.

 

Pool party

Officers headed to the pool at apartments in the 2500 block of 38th Avenue July 16 on a report of a disturbance. Upon arrival, a man approached the police and was uncooperative, not allowing them into the pool area. While police talked to the man, four other people ran off. With help from Roseville and Columbia Heights police, the four were all tracked down. In the end, a 21-year-old man was arrested and cited for obstructing police; the folks who ran, 20 and 21-year-old women and 22 and 36-year-old men, were arrested and cited for misdemeanor fleeing police.

 

Squatters

Someone called the police July 16 to report people staying in vacant apartments at a building in the 2500 block of Silver Lane. Officers checked it out and banned a 44-year-old man from the property — a 40-year-old woman was also identified as a possible squatter.

• July 31 at Cub Foods on Larpenteur Avenue

Criminal damage to property was reported:

• July 31 at Minnesota Department of Transportation

 

Shots Fired

Shots were reportedly fired:

• July 31 at Woodbridge and Rice streets

• July 31 in the 100 block of Larpenteur Avenue
