Kuenkel Field press box named after retiring coach

Ron Adams

The Kuenkel Field press box was officially named after coach Ron Adams on June 29 for his 32 years of serving the community as a baseball coach.

After playing baseball at Hill-Murray High School and the University of Minnesota, Adams coached the sport for both North High School, where his team won the conference championship in 2015, and American Legion Post 39, where his team was playoff champions three times, league champions four times and co-league champions once.

After 32 years of coaching, Adams is retiring this year.

“He’s been a mentor, and I know he’s touched more than just my life,” said fellow coach Andy Navis at the June 19 North St. Paul City Council meeting, where the council approved the naming of the press box. “He’s touched everyone’s life that he’s coached or anyone that he’s been able to work with.”

“He loves what he does and he loves that field,” said Mayor Mike Kuehn.

Added council member Candy Petersen, “It’s the most deserving honor that we could do.”
