Puppet Wagon

Join the Puppet Wagon at Market Square Park, 750 Main St., Mendota Heights, Mondays through Aug. 13 at 11:45 a.m. Preschoolers and their parents will enjoy fun lessons and crafts. Each week will feature a new theme, puppet mail and dancing. These events are free. 


Kid Coders

Explore basic robotics with Ozobots, the robots you code with colored lines. Registration is required, and this event is open to kids ages 6 to 12. It will run from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. July 9, at the South St. Paul Library, 106 Third Ave. N. Call 651-554-3240 for more information. 


World War II - The Home Front

Without the support and endeavors of Americans on “the Home Front”, military forces could not have defeated the Axis and won the freedom of peoples around the globe. The presentation on “World War II - The Home Front” focuses on the personal and nationwide fight in which all Americans had a part to play in the defeat of those who would strip away our freedoms. Knitting, sewing, driving less, collecting milkweed pods, saving fats from cooking, eating less sugar; the list is nearly endless. Register by July 9 for this session that will take place on July 11 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., at Thompson Park Activity Center, 1200 Stassen Lane, West St. Paul. in the Park

Join the Story Man from England in this fun and active program at the park. This program is presented in conjunction with Inver Grove Heights Parks and Recreation. Open to kids up to age 10, July 10’s storytime will be at South Valley Park, 2810 70th St, Inver Grove Heights. It will run from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. This is a Minnesota Legacy program sponsored by Minnesota’s Arts & Cultural Heritage Fund. 



From 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., July 12, learn about the amazing lives of frogs, toads, salamanders and other Minnesota amphibians and meet a few live creatures. Presented by Dodge Nature Center, this will take place at the West St. Paul Library, 199 Wentworth Ave. E.


Schiffelly Puppets

Join Ariel, King Triton and other underwater friends as they try to teach the evil Ursula a lesson about bullying. Enjoy this family-friendly parody of the classic Hans Christian Andersen tale filled with humor and plenty of audience participation. Running from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., July 12, this is for kids ages 2 to 10 and will take place at the Inver Glen Library, 8098 Blaine Ave. E.


Nature After Dinner

What makes some volcanoes explode while others just ooze lava? Why do some volcanic rocks have large crystals while others look like glass? From 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. July 12, come play with some volcanic models and use them to better understand the rocks made by volcanoes. This program at Dodge Nature Center’s Farm and Education Entrance 3, 1710 Charlton St., West St. Paul, is designed for kids ages 3 to 8, and all children must be accompanied by at least one adult. Half Pint Safety Camp

Kids ages 4 to 6 can spend the morning of July 12 learning from safety professionals about police, fire, stranger danger, personal safety and other basic safety topics from 9 a.m. to noon at Inver Grove Heights Parks and Recreation, 8055 Barbara Ave. Snacks are included. Movie in the Park

On July 13, come by Southview Park, 275 Westview Drive, West St. Paul for Movie in the Park. “Despicable Me 3” will be shown in the park at 9 p.m., so bring your blankets, chairs and insect repellent for this outdoor movie experience. 


Dodge outdoor concert

“The Eddies” are back to entertain us with river ballads and a mix of popular music July 13 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Dodge Nature Center, 365 Marie Ave., in West St. Paul. This local group draws a crowd with their rousing music and wit. Dodge will provide ice cream cones for a minimal fee. This family-friendly event is free, but donations are appreciated.  


Minnesota Twins Clinic

A free baseball and softball clinic sponsored by Twins Community Fund and Great River Energy will be held at Rich Valley Athletic Complex in Inver Grove Heights, 1841 105th St. E., July 13. Time slots will be organized by age: kids ages 6 to 9 will be 1-2:30 p.m.; ages 10 to 13 will be at 2:30 to 4 p.m. No registration required, but participants must complete a waiver on-site. Equipment is provided but participants should bring a glove. Clinics are designed to teach basic fundamentals, including hitting, throwing and fielding. In case of inclement weather, clinic will be moved to Veterans Memorial Community Center, 8055 Barbara Ave. 


Inver Hills Community Band 

The Inver Hills Community Band will be performing a free Pops Concert on July 15 at 7 p.m. at the Church of St. Patrick’s, 3535 72nd St. E., in Inver Grove Heights. The concert will feature several selections from Broadway including highlights from “Annie,” “West Side Story,” “Oliver,” “Sound of Music,” “Cats” and “The Music Man.” For more information about the band please visit
