Organized trash collection discussion

The League of Women Voters-St. Paul is hosting a discussion about the move to organized trash collection on July 12 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Hayden Heights Library, 1456 White Bear Ave., in the Bear’s Den room. The League will be joined by two members of the city’s solid waste/recycle staff. As St. Paul transitions to organized collection, this will give residents an opportunity to learn what prompted the city to explore the change, how the city arrived at the system that will be used (independent haulers dividing up the city for collection routes) and the plan for implementation. There will be time for questions and answers as well. There is a parking lot that is handicapped accessible. The library is located on bus lines 64N and 80.

St. Paul-itics Ice Cream Socials

St. Paul Public Library is teaming up with the League of Women Voters to host St. Paul-itics ice cream socials that will include live music, activities for all ages, and free ice cream. In addition to voter registration, the purpose of these events is to celebrate our communities and have fun getting to know our neighbors. This will also be an opportunity for residents to come out and meet their local elected officials and participate in mock voting.

The next social will be July 5, 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Sun Ray Library, 2105 Wilson Ave. with live music by the Grace Brass Players.
