Inver Hills concert

The Inver Hills Community Band will be performing a free Pops Concert June 24 at 4 p.m. at the Central Square Amphitheater, 100 Seventh Ave. N., in South St. Paul. The concert will include Marches of John Williams, Sir Duke, Peter Gunn, Yesterday, Domino, Sing, Sing, Sing, selections from Queen and other entertaining works. Science Monday

See the scientific method in action and put it to the test – the flame test. On June 25, from 1 to 1:45 p.m., learn what keeps money from burning and how to make clouds from dry ice. Presented by Mad Science of Minnesota, this is intended for kids ages 5 to 12. It will take place at the Inver Glen Library, 8098 Blaine Ave. E.

 

Summer Campfire

Join Dodge Nature Center at the amphitheater June 25 for some family campfire time. From 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., roast a marshmallow or two… or more. You will also have the option to venture out on a hike with your family to explore the prairie, forest and ponds. The cost is $7 per adult or child, or $20 for a family. Show Away Hunger

Shoe Away Hunger is a partnering program where footwear is turned around to provide an eco-friendly means of support for Feeding the Futures programs. South St. Paul’s Parks & Recreation Department is partnering with Shoe Away Hunger to bring the “Shoe Bus” to town from 4 to 6 p.m. June 26 at Central Square Community Center, 100 Seventh Ave. N. You can purchase new and gently used shoes and every purchase helps to provide food for the Feeding Programs of Good in the ‘Hood. A $5 purchase can feed one person for a week.

 

Plant for Pollinators

Join master gardeners and the City of Mendota Heights in helping plant pollinator friendly rain garden and landscaping around the Par 3 Clubhouse, 1695 Dodd Road, at 5:30 p.m. June 26. There will be a rain date June 28 at 5:30 p.m. To sign up go to https://mendotaheights.revtrak.net and search under volunteer opportunities. You can also register in person at Par 3 or City Hall, 1101 Victoria Curve. Please bring garden gloves and a hand towel if you have one. 

 

LED paper flowers

From 2 to 3 p.m., June 26, learn how to use LED lights and coin batteries to make paper flowers that glow at the South St. Paul Library, 106 Third Ave. N. Registration is required, and this if for kids ages 10 to 16. Call 651-554-3240 for more information. 

 

 

Bridgepoint Food Truck Wednesday

Join South St. Paul Bridgepoint Business Association the fourth Wednesday of each month for its Summer Food Truck Events at Bridgepoint Business Park, 150 Hardman Drive. They will go from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. or until the trucks run out of food. Each month will feature a different food truck and dessert.
The June food truck will be on June 24 and feature Tiki Tims. They have fresh fish tacos, pulled pork sandwiches and Tiki Cake. MN Shaved Ice will also be featured

 

Flea market, hot dog cookout & jam session

Eat hot dogs and shop at the flea market on June 27. Lunch, which will run from noon to 1 p.m., includes hot dogs, chips, cookies and a beverage for $4. The flea market will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Thompson Park Activity Center, 1200 Stassen Lane, West St. Paul. the JAM Band will play from 1 to 3p.m.

 

The Summer of “The Digs”

Few have had the opportunity to join an archaeological dig and even fewer have been able to join in their successes and failure. This summer you can visit three such “digs”. Each dig looking for, and maybe finding, that prized something. There will be a session on a separate dig each month this summer. Register by June 28 for the July 10 session, which will run from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Thompson Park Activity Center, 1200 Stassen Lane, West St. Paul. Cost is $8, and register by calling 651-403-8300.

 

Bike rodeo

On June 30, from 10 a.m. to noon, bring your bike and helmet to learn about bike safety and have fun on a bike obstacle course. Presented by the West St. Paul Police and Children’s Hospital, registration is required, and this is for kids ages 6 to 12. This will take place at the West St. Paul Library, 199 Wentworth Ave. E.
