Railroad Island neighborhood meeting

The Railroad Island Task Force will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, May 24, 6 p.m. at Hope Community Academy, 720 Payne Ave. Items included on the agenda for the evening include an update about the Swede Hollow Overlook, an update on the neighborhood’s public art projects and planning for summer events. 


Dayton’s Bluff neighborhood meeting

The Dayton’s Bluff Community Council will hold its monthly board of directors meeting on Monday, May 21 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the East Side Enterprise Center, 804 Margaret St. An agenda for the meeting had not yet been finalized before the Review’s print deadline. 


Payne-Phalen neighborhood meeting

The Payne-Phalen Community Council will hold its monthly board of directors meeting on Tuesday, May 22, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Arlington Hills Community Center, 1200 Payne Ave. Items on the agenda for the evening’s meeting include a presentation of a Beacon Bluff site plan at Phalen Boulevard and Wells Street. The board will also review a conditional use permit for a site at 884 Hyacinth Ave. E to serve women in recovery and their children.


District 1 neighborhood meeting

The District 1 Community Council, which covers the southeast neighborhoods of St. Paul, will hold its monthly board meeting on Monday, May 21 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Battle Creek Recreation Center, 75 Winthrop St. S.



WaterFest, the annual celebration of Minnesota’s lakes, streams and rivers by the Ramsey-Washington Metro Watershed District, returns Saturday, June 2, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Lake Phalen Regional Park. WaterFest is a free, family-friendly event that includes a water parade, the chance to try out some paddling, fishing, games — like climbing walls, bounce house, archery and more — trying out sailboats or paddle boats, arts and crafts, live animals, music, dance, food and more. Hmong Arts and Craft fair

The third annual Hmong Arts and Craft fair returns on June 23 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Gethsemane Lutheran Church school, 2410 Stillwater Road E. in Maplewood. Get to Know Beyond the Baby Blues Conference

Beyond the Baby Blues is a full-day conference designed to educate professionals and families about mood disorders and anxiety before, during and after pregnancy. It will be held at the University of Minnesota Continuing Education Center, 1890 Bufford Ave., in St. Paul on June 7. Experts in the field of psychology, social work, and maternal and child health, along with women and family members whose lives have been affected by postpartum depression will offer presentations. Mental Health Support Group

A NAMI Connection free peer support group for adults recovering from mental illness meets weekly in St. Paul. The group is sponsored by NAMI Minnesota (National Alliance on Mental Illness). Trained facilitators who are also in recovery lead NAMI Connection groups. The group meets on Mondays, from noon to 1:30 p.m., at Hamm Psychiatric Memorial Clinic, 408 St. Peter St., Suite 429, in St. Paul. Check in at front desk when you arrive.
