LETTER: Untie the snare in Minnesota

To the Editor:

I’m writing to call on Minnesota’s elected officials to put an end to snaring as a method of recreational hunting and trophy trapping. Unlike armed hunting, snares are indiscriminate; they are set and left to capture, strangle, mutilate and/or brutally kill whatever happens to wander into them. This includes, but is not limited to family pets like dogs and cats, as well as our moose, wolves, lynx and even bald eagles.

Many other states have already banned this brutal practice. It’s time Minnesota joined them.
