Boys Totem Town meeting

Due to the snow storm that occurred on Jan. 22, the District 1 Community Council meeting that included an update about the Boys Totem Town juvenile justice facility was cancelled. A new meeting about Boys Totem Town has been scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 20, 6:30 p.m. at Battle Creek Recreatioin Center, 75 Winthrop St. S. The meeting is open to anyone.


China Friendship Garden discussion

The St. Paul Department of Parks and Recreation and the Minnesota China Friendship Garden Society will hold a discussion about the China Friendship Garden project at Lake Phalen on Wednesday, Feb. 21 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Arlington Hills Community Center Community Room A, 1200 Payne Ave. The discussion will include background information about the project and the sister-city gift exchange, the scope of the work occuring in 2018, and the project schedule. Railroad Island meeting

The Railroad Island Neighborhood monthly meeting will be Thursday, Feb. 22, 6 p.m. at Hope Community Academy, 720 Payne Ave.


League of Women Voters St. Paul coffee social

The League of Women Voters St. Paul is starting a new, monthly coffee social this spring and the first one will take place on Monday, March 5 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the West Seventh Mississippi Market, 1500 West Seventh St. These informal meetings offer an opportunity for newer members to get answers to any lingering questions about the League and are an opportunity to introduce the League to someone who does not yet belong. The March 5 meeting also will be an opportunity to learn about Ramsey County government.  All four of the county commissioners who currently represent St. Paul are up for election and will be on the ballot in November. Visitors can buy an item from the deli and bring it to the meeting. Beverages will be provided. Guests are asked to park on the street or in the furthest reaches of the market’s parking lot. 


Law Enforcement Education and Employment fair

Century College in White Bear Lake will host a Law Enforcement Education and Employment fair on Wednesday, March 7 from 2 to 5 p.m., 3300 Century Ave. N., White Bear Lake. The event will provide an opportunity to learn about educational and employment options in law enforcement by talking with law enforcement faculty, discussing class options with academic advisors for the summer and fall, learning more about the admissions process and financial aid options. Representatives from the following departments will be at the fair to talk with prospective students:

• Federal Reserve Police

• Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office

• Lino Lakes Public Safety

• Maplewood Police

• Minnesota Department of Corrections

Payne-Phalen meeting

The Payne-Phalen Community Council monthly meeting will be Tuesday, Feb. 27, 6:30 p.m. at the Arlington Hills Community Center, 1200 Payne Ave.
