Fraudus interruptus

A woman attempted to withdraw money at the Bremer Bank in the 4000 block of Lexington Avenue Feb. 1 using a fake Wisconsin ID, but the teller was onto her and called 911, prompting the woman to run off.

Winter parking blues

It was a quiet week in Falcon Heights, the silence only punctured by six citations left on cars parked on California Avenue West for snow emergency violations.


 

Lauderdale 

DWI

Police stopped a 50-year-old St. Paul woman Jan. 27 at Larpenteur Avenue and Eustis Street and arrested her for driving while intoxicated. She blew a .17 blood alcohol concentration and was booked at the Ramsey County Jail for gross misdemeanor third-degree DWI and driving on a revoked license. Since she has two previous DWI convictions, police had her car processed for forfeiture.


 

Little Canada

Attempted burglary

A resident reported an attempted burglary that took place the night of Feb. 2 in the 2500 block of Rice Street. The prowler didn’t get into the place, but ruined a door in attempting to do so.

 

Cat in a trap

A 43-year-old man who lives in the 2500 block of Edgerton Street called the police Feb. 6 about a cat that was caught in a live trap near his home. Deputies released the cat and brought it to the Hillcrest Animal Shelter.

 

Lock the car

A 36-year-old Maplewood man left his briefcase, containing his Social Security card, tax information, passport and some keys, in his unlocked car as it was parked in the 100 block of Viking Drive Feb. 5. Someone stole the briefcase from the car.


 

Mounds View

Accident with injuries

Officers headed to the intersection of Louisa Avenue and Sunnyside Road Feb. 3 on a report of an accident with injuries and ended up ticketing a 29-year-old Minneapolis woman for driving without a valid Minnesota driver’s license.

 

Arrests

An officer arrested a 21-year-old woman who was a passenger in a car he stopped at Quincy Street and County Road H2 Jan. 29 for multiple outstanding felony warrants. The stop also resulted in a police report from the driver, who told the officer they were the victim of criminal property damage that happened in the 1000 block of Montclair Avenue.

Police responded to the scene of a car crash at the intersection of Mounds View Boulevard and Red Oak Drive Jan. 30 and arrested a 50-year-old Eagan man who’d been involved with the crash because he was speeding just prior to it. 

 

Mail/check theft

A caller who lives in the 5300 block of Clifton Drive called police Feb. 2 to say personal checks had been stolen out of their mailbox and purchases had then been made using their checking account.

 

Stolen bike

Someone stole a bike from a backyard near Vino and Stogies in the 3200 block of County Road H2 as reported Feb. 2.

 

Stolen civic

Someone stole a white, 1998 Honda Civic from the 5500 block of Landmark Circle as reported Feb. 4


 

New Brighton

Stolen package

A 30-year-old woman reported the Jan. 29 theft of a package containing shoes, worth $61.98, from outside her front door in the 1400 block of 10th Street NW.

 

Warmers beware

A 39-year-old woman told police Feb. 4 that her blue, 2001 Pontiac Trans Am was stolen while it was left running to warm up in the 1300 block of Seventh Street NW.


 

Shoreview

Scaredy cats

Just after lunch in the 500 block of Sherwood Road on Feb. 5, four feral cats were jumping in and out of a dumpster, scaring passing workers and prompting a call to the sheriff’s office.

 

Opossum, opossum

A caller in the 200 block of Sherwood Road told the police Feb. 3 that an opossum had taken up residence at their home, under the deck and in the trees, but the caller was informed the sheriff’s department doesn’t remove unwanted wild animals from private property.

 

Theft

The prime suspect in the Feb. 4 theft of $1,800 worth of gift cards and $20 from the till at the Exxon gas station in the 3800 block of Lexington Avenue is a 28-year-old woman.

 

Tip jar heist

Three guys stole the tip jar and the $30 it contained from the Five Guys burger place in the 1000 block of Red Fox Road the afternoon of Feb. 3.


 

St. Anthony

Arrest

A 44-year-old man stopped Jan. 24 at Stinson Boulevard and 27th Avenue was arrested for an outstanding misdemeanor hit and run warrant. He was booked at the Hennepin County Jail.

 

Bottle service

Employees at the municipal liquor store in the 2700 block of Old Highway 8 told police Jan. 26 someone, later identified as a 32-year-old man, had left the store without paying for a bottle of liquor. Employees gave police the license plate number of the vehicle the man left in, so police headed to the address connected to the plate number. Sure enough, the man was there with the bottle, now open; he was cited for misdemeanor theft.

 

Detox

Police were called to a church in the 3300 block of Silver Lake Road Jan. 24 for an “unwanted drunk person,” as stated in the police report. The man, who registered a .223 blood alcohol concentration, said he wanted to go to detox, so police obliged him.

 

Grab and run

A 71-year-old woman told police Jan. 25 that she was filling her truck at the SuperAmerica in the 3200 block of Stinson Boulevard when someone ran past her and grabbed her wallet off the vehicle. The person then hopped in a waiting getaway car. The woman told police she’s out $20 for the wallet; it also contained her ID, medical cards and two checks.

 

Roommate issues?

A 33-year-old man who lives in the 2800 block of Old Highway 8 told police Jan. 27 that while he was away on vacation, something happened to the roughly $30 in change that belonged to him. Police have possible suspects.

 

Stolen check

A 79-year-old woman told police Jan. 23 she’d discovered one of her checks had been cashed for $1,200 at a TCF bank in St. Anthony. Police investigated and found a 23-year-old woman cashed the check; the case is under investigation.

 

Theft

Employees at the cell phone store in the 2700 block of 39th Avenue told police Jan. 28 someone had stolen two iPads, worth about $1,400.
