FAITH: Taize prayer

The Benedictine Center in Maplewood is offering an evening of Taize prayer on the third Friday of every month. The next opportunity is scheduled for Jan. 19, starting at 7 p.m.  A free will offering will be accepted.

According to Sam Rahberg, director of the Center, Taize prayer is a world-wide phenomenon consisting of simple chants based on the Scriptures and periods of silence.

“It creates an environment that helps us encounter the mystery of God,” he explains.

Participants are invited to stay for refreshments and “get to know some other interesting and like-minded people,” he adds.
