School closure guidelines

As winter proves to be unpredictable once again, questions can come up about the conditions that can cancel school. Per Mounds View Public Schools and Roseville Area Schools, classes can be canceled if:

• Buses won’t start or run dependably.

• Local road conditions in neighborhoods are dangerous or impassable.

• Neighborhoods experience sustained wind chills of 40 to 45 degrees below zero during the hours between morning bus pick-ups and afternoon bus drop-offs.

The districts use a number of ways to alert parents and students of closures.
