LETTER: Good news for the food shelf

To the Editor:

I want to thank the Review for the article they wrote about the North St. Paul Area Food Shelf. It has been so helpful. We got so many calls and were able to fill most of our gaps. Also, we want to thank some of the present and new volunteers who have stepped up to take over some of the duties my husband and I have been responsible for. Because of the reduced workload, we won’t be leaving the food shelf in January. As the director, I have worn too many hats so I am pleased that the job will now be broken down. My husband and I are looking forward to shorter hours and continuing to work with these wonderful volunteers.

We hope that when it does come time for us to step down, we will have trained volunteers on board who can step right into the role of director and maintenance manager. We want to see the wonderful work this food shelf has done for almost 38 years continue for as long as the people in this area need the help. We also do not want to let down all the people who have supported our work through their donations.

Linda Zick, Director, North St. Paul Area Food Shelf
