LETTER: Support for District 623 schools from western Maplewood

To the Editor:

My husband and I have been fortunate to live for 43 years in western Maplewood, served by Roseville District 623. For all these years we and our neighbors have been pleased, proud and supportive of these fine schools.

On Nov. 7, we will have the opportunity to vote “yes” for the Roseville school bond to update and improve all buildings and facilities in the district. We feel that, over time, school boards and administrators have made solid decisions and maintained our school buildings well, meeting the needs of students and the community. Now, for the first time in 25 years, we are being asked to reinvest in our educational facilities to provide safe, secure, healthy updated learning environments in all buildings for Roseville area students.

Your “yes” vote on Nov. 7 will be a great investment for our kids and for all of us. We all want our students to succeed in our ever-changing world. As seniors and property owners, we will recover our investment in the form of increased property values. And, remember, local school taxes are deductible from our federal incomes taxes.

As a longtime community activist, local elected official, community member on the recent bond referendum finance committee and taxpayer, I urge you to vote “yes” for Roseville schools on Nov. 7.

Kathleen Juenemann, Maplewood City Council member
