Emily O. and Stephanie M., from Girl Scout Troop 53661 built a music wall at the Oakdale Nature Preserve. The project helped them complete their Silver Award project, the second highest award that can be earned in Girl Scouts.

The Silver Award project needs to addresses the root cause of a community issue in a sustainable way. The girls had to show leadership and put more than 50 hours into their project.

The purpose of the music wall is to give access to music and outdoors to children, and it contains pots and pans, buckets, a pipe organ, a xylophone and chimes for a variety of different sounds.

The girls raised the funds for the project by having a craft sale. They also worked with the Oakdale’s recreation department to find the most appropriate place to install the music wall. The project is now completed and ready for children to enjoy.
