Arden Hills

Gift card fraud

An elderly woman met deputies at the Cub Foods in the 3700 block of Lexington Avenue Aug. 9 to report she was out several thousands dollars in a fraud scheme. She’d fallen victim to paying a fraudster using Apple Store gift cards. If anyone ever asks you to pay for anything using any type of gift card, assume it’s fraud.

Package theft

Someone stole a package from a home in the 1300 block of Indian Oaks Trail as reported Aug. 10.

Panhandling

Deputies patrolling the area of County Road E and Lexington Avenue the evening of Aug. 11 saw a 26-year-old man panhandling in the median, for which he was cited.

Revoked license

A 38-year-old woman stopped Aug. 12 at Lexington Avenue and Interstate 694 for a moving violation ended up getting her car impounded because she was driving with a revoked license.

Suspicious biking

Someone called police the evening of Aug. 11 from the area of County Road I and Snelling Avenue to report a suspicious group of people biking around, but when deputies arrived they didn’t find anyone.

 

Falcon Heights

Broken door

Police responded to the cell phone store in the 1500 block of Larpenteur Avenue Aug. 6 because the store’s security alarm was going off. Officers arrived and found the glass front door had been smashed. The store manager was notified and came to the store; nothing seems to have been stolen.

Burglary

Employees arrived at Get Pressed in the 1400 block of Larpenteur Avenue the morning of Aug. 1 and found that the business had been burglarized overnight. The burglar stole cash and went through a number of packages — the business is a UPS Hub. The Ramsey County Crime Lab processed the scene and police are investigating.

DWI

A 57-year-old Centerville man was arrested Aug. 3 at Larpenteur and Cleveland avenues for DWI. Police obtained a warrant to conduct a urine test. The man, who has a previous drunk driving conviction, was booked at the Ramsey County Jail for second-degree DWI.

Fraud

A 38-year-old man told police Aug. 4 that someone had made two fraudulent purchases on his credit card totaling $1,141.30. Police are investigating.

Gas and go

Someone pumped $20.49 worth of gas at the BP in the 1600 block of Snelling Avenue Aug. 6 and left without paying. Employees jotted down the car’s license plate number and the owner was called — the owner said they’d just recently sold the car. The new ower has yet to be tracked down.

Road rage

A driver told police July 31 that another driver in the area of Snelling and Larpenteur Avenue tried to drive him off the road. Police responded but were unable to track down the offending driver.

Stolen stereo

A 43-year-old man told police Aug. 5 someone had broken into his garage at the apartments in the 1700 block of Lindig Street and stole his stereo out of his car, causing some $3,000 worth of damage to take the $600 radio.

 

Lauderdale

Large amount of marijuana

A 25-year-old man stopped Aug. 6 at Larpenteur Avenue and Highway 280 was arrested and booked at the Ramsey County Jail for possession of a large amount of marijuana and for giving false information to police.

Wandering child

A resident who lives in the 1700 block of Malvern Street found a 2-year-old child wandering alone Aug. 1. The person called police and then tried to find the child’s parents, tracking down the mother before police arrived. Officers spoke to the mother, who told them it was an isolated incident that happened while she and the 2-year-old were visiting relatives.

 

Little Canada

Burglary

Someone saw a man trying to break into a trailer at the trailer park in the 2400 block of Rice Street just before bar close Aug. 12. Deputies came and didn’t find the man nor did anything seem to be stolen — the prowler may have gotten spooked and taken off.

DWI

Deputies pulled over a 22-year-old woman Aug. 11 for a moving violation at the intersection of Rice Street and Country Drive. She was intoxicated, so she was arrested for fourth-degree DWI.

Sheep!

Someone called the police Aug. 13 from the first block of Little Canada Drive to report some wandering sheep. The sheriff’s office collected the animals, which were taken on up to Zimmerman to the Minnesota Hooved Animal Rescue Foundation. 

Shots fired

Deputies arrested a 26-year-old man for firing a gun at the Flameburger in the 2500 block of Rice Street at bar close time Aug. 13. No one was hurt.

 

Mounds View

Dispatch from the opioid epidemic

Someone called police Aug. 12 for a welfare check of a woman who was slumped over in the driver’s seat of her car in the 2200 block of Mounds View Boulevard. The woman, identified as a 20-year-old, was arrested for fourth-degree DWI, possession of drug paraphernalia and fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance: heroin.

DWI

Police stopped a 48-year-old woman at the intersection of Mounds View Boulevard and County Road H Aug. 12 and arrested her for second-degree DWI test refusal and third-degree DWI.

Gassed and gotten

A 32-year-old man got caught after pulling a gas and go at the Holiday gas station in the 2700 block of Mounds View Boulevard Aug. 12. He pumped but did not pay for $18 worth of gas; police identified him and tracked him down and gave him a citation for the theft.

Old phone stolen

A 63-year-old man called police Aug. 14 from the 5000 block of Irondale Road to report the theft of an “older cell phone” from his car, a $20 loss.

Shattered glass

A 51-year-old woman who lives in the 7600 block of Woodlawn Drive told police Aug. 14 that someone shot a BB gun at her sliding glass door, shattering it. The shooter caused $300 worth of damage.

Stolen ladder

A 51-year-old man told police Aug. 14 that someone stole his aluminum ladder from his home in the 7600 block of Woodlawn Drive, a $100 loss.

 

New Brighton

DWI

Police pulled over a 36-year-old woman Aug. 12 at County Road H and Long Lake Road after she blew a stop sign. She told them she’d had a “few drinks;” she had, and was arrested and booked for fourth-degree DWI.

Gassed and gone

A woman pumped nearly $60 worth of petrol into her pickup truck Aug. 16 at the EZ Stop gas station in the 500 block of Old Highway 8 and then drove off without paying.

Stolen bikes

A 13-year-old boy told police someone boosted his unlocked BMX bike from in front of the McDonald’s in the 700 block of Long Lake Road the night of Aug. 16. He said he recognized some other kids from school who were at the fast food joint that night, and even suspected one of them might have taken his ride, but he didn’t name names. The boy said he just wanted his bike back, and wouldn’t file a complaint if it came back undamaged.

A 48-year-old man told police Aug. 13 someone had stolen his $1,200 bike out of his garage in the 1300 block of Pine Lake Court.

A 45-year-old woman told police Aug. 14 someone stole her daughter’s bike out of their garage in the 1600 block of 23rd Avenue NW in the past couple of weeks. Nothing else seemed to be missing.

Stolen car

A 30-year-old woman told police Aug. 13 that someone had stolen her 2015 Chevy Cruze from the 2100 block of County Road E. She still had both the car’s keys so the thief didn’t use a key. She also told police in the weeks prior that someone had broken into the Cruze and stolen a cell phone charger; she said she thinks the two thefts are related.

 

Shoreview

DWI, with history

A 33-year-old man driving 70 miles per hour in a 40 mile-per-hour zone just after bar close Aug. 10, who was observed driving over signs in the median, was stopped at Highway 96 and Rice Street. The man, who had previous DWI convictions as well as convictions for DWI test refusal, was arrested for second-degree DWI.

Lost and then found

A resident called police Aug. 14 at around 3 p.m. to report their car had been stolen, but then the person realized they’d simply forgotten where they’d parked it.

Road raging

A man told police he was the victim in a road rage incident near 85th Avenue NE and Interstate 35W as reported Aug. 11. Another man who had a driving issue had ripped a door handle off the victim’s car.

Shadowed at Target?

A woman came to the patrol station Aug. 15 to tell police she thought someone had been following her through the Target in the 3800 block of Lexington Avenue the previous night. Police are investigating.

Stolen bike

Someone stole a $500 Trek bike out of a front yard in the 5900 block of Royal Oaks Drive as reported Aug. 18. It is unknown whether it was locked to something, or not.

 

St. Anthony

Arrest

A 46-year-old man who was stopped July 31 at Old Highway 8 and Rankin Road was booked at the Ramsey County Jail for an outstanding Ramsey County warrant for third-degree DWI.

Officers responded to apartments in the 4000 block of Foss Road Aug. 5 on report of a suspicious person. They found an 18-year-old man who witnesses said appeared confused as he attempted to get into homes and cars. Police arrested the man for trespassing and took him to the Hennepin County Jail; while in the squad car he damaged a video camera. He was booked at the jail for trespassing, tampering with a vehicle and criminal property damage.

Burglary

Someone broke into three sheds at an apartment complex in the 3900 block of Foss Road as reported Aug. 1. The prowler stole some tools; police are investigating and were given information about a possible suspect.

An 83-year-old woman who lives in the 4000 block of Foss Road told police Aug. 6 she left her home and failed to secure the windows and doors. When she came home, she found an “extensive amount of jewelry” had been stolen; the monetary value was not known.

‘Leave the fake ID’

A bank teller at the US Bank in the 3900 block of Silver Lake Road reported someone in the act of trying to make a fraudulent transaction Aug. 1. The person attempting the fraud left the bank before police arrived, leaving behind his ID — which was fake — and bank card.

Lock your bike

A 27-year-old man told police Aug. 3 he’d left his $1,800 bike unlocked on his ground-floor patio in the 2500 block of 38th Avenue and someone stole it.

A 52-year-old man told police Aug. 6 he’d left his $100 bike unlocked outside the Cub Foods in the 3900 block of Silver Lake Road as he ducked inside to shop and someone stole it.

Mad at Chipotle

Police headed to the burrito place in the 2700 block of 39th Aveue Aug. 5 because a customer was throwing stuff arond the store. The person was gone when police arrived. Police think it might be a 26-year-old woman.

Meth

A 32-year-old man stopped at St. Anthony and Stinson boulevards Aug. 6 was booked at the Hennepin County Jail for possession of methamphetamine and marijuana, as well as driving with a revoked driver’s license. A passenger in the car was also booked at the jail for possession of drug paraphernalia and giving false information to police.

Scratch and dent

A 46-year-old man told police someone caused $800 worth of damage to his car when the vehicle was scratched while parked at the auto parts store in the 2900 block of Pentagon Drive Aug. 4.
