The Roseville Raiders 13UAAA baseball team won the Gopher State Tournament of Champions held in Rochester July 21-23.

The Gopher State Tournament of Champions AAA state baseball tournament was July 21-23 in Rochester and the Roseville Raiders 13UAAA team came out on top.

Despite a loss in the opening pool play game, the Raiders went on to win the next two pool games, capturing first place in their pool and advancing to the July 23 championship bracket.

The first championship bracket game was against the Osseo-Maple Grove Storm, which had beaten the Raiders in a tournament earlier this summer. The Raiders beat the No. 3 seed Storm 7-4.

The next round pitted the Raiders against the second-seeded Blaine Bengals, which Roseville dispatched 11-9. The victory moved the Raiders into the championship game.

There, Roseville played the St. Michael-Albertville Knights. Neither team committed any errors on the field and though the game was tight through three innings — knotted at 2-2 — the Raiders closed out the Knights from there and secured a 5-2 victory, making Roseville the 13UAAA state champs.
