Shoreview Community Garden Club meeting

oni Forsman from The Minnesota Water Garden Society will speak on “Container Water Gardening” at the Shoreview Community Center at 7 p.m. in the council chambers located at 4785 Victoria St. N. on Wednesday, May 3, during the Shoreview Community Garden Club meeting. Irondale Bands Swing Dance

The third annual Irondale Bands Swing Dance featuring the Jazz Band and Southside Swing Band is Friday, May 5 at 7 p.m. at the Mounds View Community Center, 5394 Edgewood Drive in Mounds View. Doors open at 7 p.m. and swing dance lessons begin at 7:30 p.m., with the dance kicking off at 8 p.m. The cost is $5 for students, $10 for adults and $18 for couples. Refreshments will be for sale and all proceeds support the Irondale Marching Knights

 

Audubon Society meeting in Roseville

The St. Paul Audubon Society is holding its general meeting May 11 from 6:45 to 8:30 p.m. at the Fairview Community Center, 1910 County Road B in Roseville. Speaker Scott M. Lanyon, a professor in ecology at the University of Minnesota, will present “The Case of the Scarlet non-Tanager and the Disappearing Dendroica: Avian Classification Mysteries Explained.”

 

Safe driver refresher course at RosePointe

The AARP Safe Driver Program is the nation’s first and largest refresher course for drivers age 50 and older that has helped millions of drivers remain safe on today’s roads. A four hour refresher class will be offered at RosePointe Independent Living Apartments on Thursday, May 4 from 1 to 5 p.m. The cost is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members. Participants may register in person at 2555 Hamline Ave. N. in Roseville or by phone at 651-639-1000.  

 

Learn about herbs in Shoreview

The Lake Owasso Garden Club will learn about getting the most from your kitchen herbs from Heidi Doering, a horticulture educator from the University of Wisconsin Extension Program on Monday, May 8 from 7 to 8 p.m. at Presbyterian Church of the Way, 3382 Lexington Ave N. in Shoreview. The event is free and open to all.
