Toastmasters International weekly meeting

Join Toastmasters International at the next weekly meeting May 1 to see how they can help you with your communication and leadership goals. Shooting Stars Club

Shooting Stars Club is an after school group for kids going through hard times at school or at home, led by teens and facilitated by a civil and family mediator. Come talk, learn and get to know new people. This club for kids ages 11 and up meets from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. every Wednesday, May 3 through June 7 at the Oakdale Library, 1010 Heron Ave. N. No registration is required.

 

Plantable seed paper

On Thursday, May 4, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. you can make plantable paper at the Oakdale Library, 1010 Heron Ave. N. Choose from a variety of seeds to include in your paper to make a truly unique card or gift. Children younger than 10 should have an adult with them to help. All supplies are provided. Register online, at the library, or call 651-730-0504.

 

Elephant & Piggie party

Celebrate Children’s Book Week on May 6 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Oakdale Library, 1010 Heron Ave. N. This party will include a special storytime and book party all about the Elephant & Piggie books by Mo Willems. Hear a short story followed by themed crafts and activities. This event is recommended for ages 2 through 6. Registration is not required. 

 

Depression in older adults class 

Join National Alliance on Mental Illness Minnesota for a free class in Stillwater on May 7 to talk about risk factors, warning signs, stigma, treatment, recovery and resources for depression in older adults.  The class will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 609 South Fifth St. For registration or information, call 651-439-5979.

 

Annual Historical Society plant sale

Come to the Historical Society parking lot, 2666 Seventh Avenue, North St. Paul, on May 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and purchase your flowers for your gardens or great flower baskets for your mom for Mother’s Day. North St. Paul Green members, Silver Lake Improvement Association and Master Gardener Diane Bruton will be on hand to answer your gardening questions.

 

STEM Saturday: Robotics

Join Team #2175, “The Fighting Calculators” from the Math and Science Academy in Woodbury as they show off their frisbee-throwing robot in the Oakdale Library parking lot. This event May 20 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. is part of the Oakdale Library’s monthly STEM Saturday program. It is recommended for ages 7 through 14, but all ages are welcome. No registration is required. The event may be canceled in inclement weather; call the library at 651-730-0504 with questions. The Oakdale Library is located at 1010 Heron Ave. N.

 

‘Game On’: a game night for adults

Come play table top games with fellow game enthusiasts on May 25 from 6 to 8 p.m. The Oakdale Library will provide games ranging from Uno and Connect Four to Splendor and Carcassonne, or you can bring your own to share. The Oakdale Library is located at 1010 Heron Ave. N.
