The Benedictine Center in Maplewood is offering these upcoming enrichment opportunities in April and early May.

• For Writers: Poems for the Earth: Thursday, April 20, 7 to 9 p.m. freewill offering accepted. Participants will experience a sensory-rich evening that enables them to celebrate God’s work through creation, which can lead to prayer and a deeper commitment to the environment. Led by Vic Klimoski, poet, teacher, editor and former director of Lifelong Learning at Saint John’s School of Theology.

• Taize Prayer, Friday, April 21, 7 thru 9 p.m., free will offering accepted. Join others in this meditative prayer consisting of simple chants and periods of silence. Then stay for refreshments and get to know some “interesting and like-minded people.” Held the third Friday of every month.

• Hermitage Retreat, Friday, April 21 thru Sunday, April 23, $150 (includes lodging and meals). Participants will have an opportunity to leave their busy lives behind and spend the weekend in silence, reading, praying, meditating and resting in the hospitality of the Sisters of St. Paul’s Monastery.

• A Day of Quiet and Solitude, Saturday, April 22, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; $25. This day will show participants what a personal retreat is all about. It includes a tour and introductory session, a private room, prayer with the monastic community, lunch, and access to the monastic library, art exhibits and grounds. It will be led by Virginia Matter, a Benedictine Sister, spiritual director and teacher of Centering Prayer.

• Hearts Burning Within Us: Tuesday, May 2, 7 to 9 p.m., $25. This session will help participants experience the presence of Christ and come to understand “he is closer than we realize.” Led by Fr. Michael Byron, a theologian and pastor of St. Pascal Baylon Catholic Church in St. Paul.
