Earth Day community clean-ups

Earth Day is Saturday, April 22, and many neighbors will be coming together to do some spring cleaning in their neighborhoods. Here are some of clean-ups planned:

The city of St. Paul has clean-ups organized on the East Side at the Phalen Picnic Pavilion (1600 Phalen Drive) and at Swede Hollow Park (near the intersection of Greenbrier and Margaret streets). Clean-up will take place from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Anyone of any age is welcome to attend. Volunteers can register online at www.stpaul.gov/departments/parks-recreation/natural-resources/volunteer-.... This will help to make sure there are enough gloves and bags for everyone.

Ramsey County is also hosting an Earth Day community clean-up at Battle Creek Regional Park starting at 9 a.m. Volunteers can register at www.ramseycounty.us/content/earth-day-cleanup.

All volunteers should wear long pants and closed-toe shoes.

Johnson Parkway pedestrian improvements

Join the Ramsey County Public Works project team at Hmong Village, 1001 Johnson Parkway, on Monday, April 17, from 6-8 p.m., to learn about recommended safety improvements for pedestrians crossing at Johnson Parkway and Ames Avenue. The meeting will include photos and drawings of recommended safety improvements. Visitors can participate in an open conversation with the project team and all are welcome. The community meeting will be in Hmong and English. More details can be found at ramseycounty.us/johnsonparkway.
