McCollum holding climate change town hall on Feb. 23
Rep. Betty McCollum will hold a town hall discussion on climate change on Thursday, Feb. 23 on the campus of the University of St. Thomas. The town hall, which will include St. Thomas School of Engineering professor Dr. John Abraham as a special guest, will address how we can continue acting on climate change in the face of the Trump administration s anti-science, pro-fossil fuel stance. “President Donald Trump has called climate change a ‘hoax’ perpetrated by the Chinese and the Republican Congress wants to tear up environmental protections like the Clean Power Plan,” McCollum said. “Our discussion will focus on what we all can do to act on climate change and protect our planet from its most devastating impacts.”
The Feb. 23 town hall is from 4 to 5 p.m. in the James B. Woulfe Alumni Hall, third floor of the Anderson Student Center, University of St. Thomas, 2115 Summit Ave. in St. Paul. The town hall discussion on climate change is free and open to the public. No RSVP is required. In addition to the climate change town hall, McCollum will host a community conversation on the Affordable Care Act, Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid the following day, Friday, Feb. 24. That conversation will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Canteen Room at the Hallie Q. Brown Community Center, located at 270 N. Kent St. in St. Paul.
