South St. Paul ‘Mayor for the Day’ essay contest announced
South St. Paul fourth- through eighth-graders are eligible to enter the third annual “Mayor for the Day” essay contest.
Mayor Jimmy Francis is accepting letters looking for why the students would want to be the South St. Paul mayor for a day and what they would do as the mayor.
The winner will receive a variety of prizes on Monday, March 6, including being picked up from school by the mayor to take a private tour of City Hall and other city buildings, dinner with Mayor Francis, along with four of the child’s friends, and an opportunity to facilitate and bring the March 6 city council meeting to order.
South St. Paul Mayor for the Day essay forms have been delivered to the Lincoln Center, Kaposia Education and the South St. Paul Secondary School, and are available at City Hall, 125 Third Ave. N., and on the city’s website at www.southstpaul.org under News. The deadline to submit essay forms is Monday, Feb. 27.
