Volunteer visitation supervisor

Volunteer to help children in foster care, and their families, maintain or rebuild relationships through supervised visits. Volunteers must be at least 21 years of age. Recycle cart launch

A celebration of the new St. Paul recycling program will take place Jan. 16 at 11:30 a.m., Arlington Hills Community Center, 1200 Payne Ave. Planned speakers include Mayor Coleman, Council President Russ Stark, County Commissioner Victoria Reinhardt, and a Eureka Recycling Representative.  Families and school-age children are encouraged to attend.

 

Free youth mental health first aid course

NAMI Minnesota (National Alliance on Mental Illness) will hold a free Youth Mental Health First Aid training course in St. Paul on Jan. 27, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at St. Paul Youth Services, 2100 Wilson Ave. The course is designed to teach participants the risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems in adolescents, build understanding of the importance of early intervention, and teach individuals how to help a youth in crisis or experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge. Participants will also learn a five-step action plan to support an adolescent developing signs and symptoms of a mental illness or emotional crisis.
