New Neighbors Club, a friendship group for women new to the area or looking for activities in the northern suburbs, is holding a get-together featuring coffee and treats at the Shoreview Community Center, 4280 Victory Street, Thursday, Jan. 12 at 10 a.m. To RSVP, contact Pat at 651-484-9163.


Local author to dicuss book

Local author William Andrews will discuss his second novel, “Daughters of the Dragon: A Comfort Woman’s Story,” which takes place in Korea during WWII. The Midwest Book Review called it a “masterpiece of fiction.” The event will take place Monday, Feb. 27, from 6:30-7:45 p.m. at the St. Anthony Village Library, 2941 Pentagon Drive.


Bonfire in New Brighton

The city of New Brighton will be hosting a bonfire event Jan. 28 from 6-8:30 p.m. It’s set to take place at Freedom Park and Girl Scouts will help plan and organize the event. There will be a food drive, s’mores, ice skating, winter sports demonstrations, sledding, and more. In addition, those able and interested can bring a donation to the Ralph Reeder food shelf and it can be dropped off at the event.


Volunteer to visit

Folks are invited to help children in foster care, and their families, maintain or rebuild relationships through supervised visits. Volunteers must be at least 21 years old.
