Betty McCollum re-elected for MN 4th Congressional District
U.S. Rep. Betty McCollum, a DFLer, won her ninth term by defeating Republican challenger Greg Ryan, 58 percent to 34 percent, in the 4th Congressional District race.
Legal Marijuana Now Party candidate Susan Pendergast Sindt garnered 8 percent with about 27,000 votes.
Minnesota’s 4th Congressional District includes all of Ramsey County and the mid-section of Washington County.
McCollum, 62, has a bachelor’s degree from St. Catherine University in St. Paul. She was a member of the North St. Paul City Council and served in the state Legislature before being elected to Congress.
McCollum said that in the upcoming term, she hopes to work across party lines to lessen the gridlock in Congress.
