The great candy bar heist in Falcon Heights

Arrests, Thefts and more around Falcon Heights, Lauderdale, Little Canada, and Roseville - Roseville Review police reports July 5, 2016.

Falcon Heights

Arrest

A 48-year-old man was arrested and cited for felony fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance — methamphetamine — after a stop at Hamline and Idaho avenues June 16. His companion, a 25-year-old woman, was arrested and cited for giving false information to police and on a Hennepin County warrant for third-degree possession of a controlled substance. Both were booked at the Ramsey County Jail.

Police arrested a 38-year-old woman on a Hennepin County warrant for a probation violation June 16 in the 1500 block of Idaho Avenue. When officers located her, she was very intoxicated. Her blood-alcohol concentration was .40 — nearly four times the legal limit, if she were to have been driving a car. Police took her to the Hennepin County Jail.

Busted

A 16-year-old boy was arrested and cited June 14 after a stop at Snelling and Roselawn avenues — he was driving on a suspended license and without insurance.

The great candy bar heist

Obviously an excellent way to add to your police record — a 33-year-old man was arrested and cited for misdemeanor theft June 14 after he stole a candy bar worth $2.14 from the SuperAmerica in the 1300 block of Larpenteur Avenue. Employees told police they saw the man grab a candy bar — no indication if it was a Snickers, Twix, or a different bar — and leave the store without paying. The man admitted to police that he stole it.

DWI

Friends don’t let friends drive drunk in a borrowed car — at least they shouldn’t. So learned the 23-year-old owner of the vehicle the 24-year-old man was driving when he was stopped June 13 at Larpenteur and Snelling avenues. He had an alcohol concentration of .225 — well over the legal limit — and was taken to the Ramsey County Jail and booked for gross misdemeanor second-degree DWI, second-degree alcohol concentration over .20 and driving with a revoked license. The owner of the car, the 23-year-old woman, was arrested and released, and cited for owner allowing operation of an uninsured vehicle and no proof of insurance on demand.

Lot lurkers

Be on the lookout for parking lot lurkers — people hanging around public lots looking for valuables left in cars. On June 19, a 52-year-old woman reported someone had smashed a window on her car at the Gibbs Farm. The busted window will cost $200 to repair. And then there’s the other loss: A 21-year-old man told police his bag was in the car and it contained credit cards, his ID and cash worth $120.

You can run but you’ll be mailed a citation

Officers out on patrol checked the license plates of a passing car June 13 and found that it had been reported stolen out of Roseville. As they followed the car, it abruptly stopped at Larpenteur and Cleveland avenues and two people got out of it and ran away. Police tracked down one of them — a 34-year-old man — and he was booked at the Ramsey County Jail for felony possession of a stolen vehicle. While the officers never caught up with his companion, they did positively ID the person as a 35-year-old woman, who was mailed a citation for misdemeanor tampering with a motor vehicle and for fleeing police on foot. The Roseville owner was notified that it had been found.

Lauderdale

Arrest

A 21-year-old from St. Paul was pulled over at Highway 280 and Larpenteur Aveune June 13 and arrested for driving while intoxicated. He had a .16 blood-alcohol concentration and was taken to the Ramsey County Jail where he was booked for gross misdemeanor third-degree DWI and for third-degree alcohol concentration over .08. He was also charged with the reason for the stop in the first place — speeding.

Domestic assault

A 50-year-old woman told police June 17 that a man had kicked in her door and attacked her, kneeing her and threatening to punch her in the face. Police found the 45-year-old at the residence and he was intoxicated, having a .32 alcohol concentration. He was arrested and, based on previous convictions, booked at the Ramsey County Jail for felony domestic assault as well as an outstanding Hennepin County warrant for criminal property damage.
