Nominations for EXCEL awards being accepted

The North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale Schools Community Education Advisory Council will be recognizing individuals and groups for their outstanding contributions to community education with the 2016 Excellence in Community Education Leadership (EXCEL) Awards. 

District 622 Community Education offers a wide range of programs and services. Programs offered include adult enrichment classes and senior programming, GED and English as a Second Language classes for adults, and early childhood and family programs, including preschool and early childhood screening. Programs for kids include swimming lessons, before and after-school care, enrichment classes and driver education. Community Education also schedules facility use outside of school hours.

Nominations may be made by the community in these five categories:

• Community Contribution Award presented to a business, organization or individual for providing significant support to District 622 Community Education programs.

• Lifelong Learner Award, presented to an individual or group for exemplifying learning as a lifelong process and demonstrating a continuing desire to learn and grow through active participation in District 622 Community Education programs.

• Community Educator Award presented to an individual or group that demonstrates the District 622 Community Education philosophy and assists others to learn through that process.

• Community Education Youth Award presented to a youth or group of youths who have contributed to their community through their participation in District 622 Community Education programs.

• Senior Friend Award presented to an individual or group that has contributed to the senior community by their participation, leadership or service in District 622 Community Education programs.

Full-time Community Education staff are ineligible for nomination. Call 651-748-7631 for a nomination form. The nomination deadline is March 28.
