Lake Elmo Park Reserve plan amended to add property to park

The Washington County Board of Commissioners amended the Lake Elmo Park Reserve Master Plan June 2 to accommodate including a parcel of land into the park.

The owners of 10112 10th St. N. in Lake Elmo contacted the county and expressed interest in selling their entire 33.5-acre parcel to Washington County. The property is adjacent to Lake Elmo Park Reserve in the northeast quadrant of 10th Street and Keats Avenue. The eastern 18.2 acres are not currently within the Lake Elmo Park Reserve boundary as identified in the Master Plan for the park.

Inclusion of this acreage into the park boundary will allow the entire parcel to be added to the regional park, which will allow for additional trails and habitat restoration. A minor amendment to the park master plan is necessary to add the land into the park boundary.

The plan was reviewed at a public open house at Lake Elmo City Hall May 7, and was reviewed by the Washington County Park and Open Space Commission May 21.
