Man attacked with a crowbar in Little Canada

Arrests, Thefts and more around Falcon Heights, Lauderdale, Little Canada, and Roseville - Roseville Review police reports June 2, 2015.

Falcon Heights

Criminal damage to property
A 45-year-old man was stopped May 11 at Como and Cleveland avenues for one of the usual pull-me-over beacons - the cracked windshield. He was also tagged for driving with a suspended license and no proof of insurance.

Someone acted out his or her issues on Mom’s car in the 1500 block of Vincent Street May 17, leaving a large dent caused by a thrown rock. At least that was the story Mom received from her 19-year-old son.

Off to a bad start
A driver was presented with a citation for violating an instructional permit May 12 after the 30-year-old man was interviewed at Hamline and Larpenteur avenues concerning expired vehicle registration, title difficulties and driving without insurance.

Lauderdale

Armed robbery
Here’s additional information on the May 17 home invasion on Walnut Street reported here last week: after the seven victims were tied up, four cell phones were put under water and destroyed. Property totaling $5,600 taken by the pair of suspects included laptops, TVs, watches, electronic games, speakers, medications, a paint ball gun and cash. No injuries were reported and an investigation continues.

Arrests
Police stopped a vehicle May 11 at Larpenteur Avenue and Malvern Street for an unreported equipment violation—often a burned-out light, a cracked windshield or a loud muffler—and “obstructed view,” usually material such as an air freshener or garter hanging from the rear-view mirror. In addition, the 22-year-old male driver was cited for no valid driver’s license. A 24-year-old female passenger, apparently not wanting to be left out, was cited for misdemeanor false information to police.

Repeat offender
Animal Control officers received a complaint about the Fulton Street dog May 13. It was complaint number five for this particular pooch but before officers arrived on the scene, the 67-year-old owner corralled the suspect and hustled him inside. Lying low and refusing to speak to police, the man was left a citation for dog-at-large.

Little Canada

Brotherly love
Deputies were called to a Labore Road apartment just before noon on May 19 regarding a falling out between brothers. Yelling occurred, punching followed and the older brother, 45, swung a box cutter, cutting the younger brother, 43, in the head. The older brother fled, deputies arrived, but the victim denied medical treatment. A pick-up and-hold was issued for the suspect on a pending felony aggravated assault charge.

Dicey situation
A distraught woman called 911 and reported that she and her boyfriend had gotten together to mend their differences the evening of May 19 in the 54-year-old girlfriend’s Labore Road apartment. That didn’t work, she said, noting that the boyfriend hit her upside the head with a plastic bottle of vodka. The boyfriend, who lives in the same building but in a different apartment, denied the accusation but was soon on his way to jail on pending charges of domestic assault, fifth-degree assault and disorderly conduct.

Prowler
A deputy on patrol spotted an open door and a flashlight beam inside a shed at an abandoned gas station just after midnight in the 200 block of Little Canada Road. A 53-year-old Vadnais Heights man, who was in possession of a plastic sack containing scrap items, was booked at the jail on a burglary charge. The door to the shed appeared to have been forced open.

Unpleasantness in the parking lot
A dust up over a $500 debt occurred outside a County Road D roofing business May 16, when a man hit another man with a crowbar. The 26-year-old victim, from White Bear Township, wrestled the crowbar away from his 20-year-old attacker who promptly grabbed a machete and threatened to kill the St. Paul man. Deputies arrived and transported the suspect to the Ramsey County Jail on a charge of felony aggravated assault with a weapon.
