Hmm, whiskey... in the garage

Falcon Heights

Arrests
A female motorist was arrested April 7 at Snelling and Hoyt avenues for violating the Ted Foss Law. The law requires drivers to move to the middle or far lane when passing an emergency or construction vehicle stopped on the roadway and was named in honor of the Minnesota state trooper struck and killed by a tractor-trailer while conducting a traffic stop 14 years ago on I-90 near Rochester. The 26-year-old was also tagged for no valid license, expired vehicle registration and an equipment violation. Her passenger, a 31-year-old man who was actually responsible for the expired registration and the equipment violation, was cited for “owner allowing the illegal operation of a vehicle.”

Burglary
Burglars broke into a residence in the 1400 block of Iowa Avenue on April 16 while the residents were away. Entry was made at the rear of the home where broken glass was found. Small items were reportedly taken, indicating possible juvenile activity. An investigation continues.

Theft
After finishing their gyros, two males left a restaurant in the 1700 block of Snelling Avenue April 7 with their dirty dishes. The loss totaled $15 and restaurant management declined to pursue any charges.

Lauderdale

Arrests
No insurance, no tail lights and a revoked driver’s license. The 22-year-old woman, arrested for those offenses April 8 at 33rd Avenue S.E. and Larpenteur is advised to bring plenty of money to court.

A 38-year-old man was arrested April 11 at Hwy. 280 and Larpenteur Avenue on charges of speeding, gross misdemeanor no insurance and driving after license revocation.

A woman arrested for careless driving and driving after license revocation April 11 at Hwy. 280 and Larpenteur Avenue was also wanted on a outstanding Hennepin County felony warrant for financial transaction card fraud. The 28-year-old was booked at the Ramsey County Jail on the warrant.

Arrested April 12 for felony first-degree DWI in the 1700 block of Malvern Street, a 36-year-old local man was booked at the Ramsey County Jail where he provided a urine sample for testing regarding additional charges.

Burglary
The Carl Street burglar was out of jail and briefly back in action before being arrested again on another burglary charge. This time, the 18-year-old hit a garage on his favorite street, scooping up chump change and garden tools totaling $7.50.

Little Canada

Burglary
A cooler and a backpack from the detached garage in the 3000 block of Payne Avenue were used to haul away $600 of food from the garage freezer overnight. The burglar also went through two automobiles inside, taking a blank check, later made out to a local man with a lengthy criminal record, and cashed to the tune of $400. There was no sign of forced entry.

A preoccupied man drove to work April 16, forgetting to close his Maple Lane garage door. When he returned, his $1,000 Trek bicycle was gone.

Hmm, whiskey... in the garage
A prowler used a shovel that the 23-year-old female victim had left leaning against the garage overnight April 17 in the 600 block of County D to break the lock, then filled up a pink duffel bag with four bottles of Michelob Golden Light and a big can Foster’s Ale from the fridge, a bottle of whiskey and four sets of poker chips.
