Washington County Library celebrates ‘One County, One Book’ program with Joe Schmit

In celebration of Washington County Library’s “One County, One Book” program, award-winning broadcaster Joe Schmit will share stories and discuss his book, “Silent Impact: Stories of Influence Through Purpose, Persistence, and Passion,” from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 25, at R.H. Stafford Library.

Washington County Library’s One County, One Book program encourages residents to share the joy of reading with family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues by reading and talking about the library’s annual selection. “Silent Impact” is the 2015 selection.

“Silent Impact” tells stories of real people and the profound influence they had on others. Schmit includes stories about well-known sports stars Minnesota Twin Joe Mauer and Hall of Fame quarterback Bart Starr. He also tells the stories of a Wendy’s employee who touched the heart of an elderly man she served each day and a woman who reached out to a classmate 25 years after he stood up to a school bully for her.

The One County, One Book program is funded with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. The program is free and all ages are welcome. The R.H. Stafford branch of Washington County Library is at 8595 Central Park Place, Woodbury.
