Going postal in Lauderdale

Arrests, Thefts and more around Falcon Heights, Lauderdale, Little Canada, and Roseville - Roseville Review police reports Feb 10, 2015.

Falcon Heights

Arrests
The equipment violation was only the beginning. After stopping the 23-year-old man at Snelling and Hoyt avenues on Jan. 19, the officer kept citing—suspended license, no insurance, failure to transfer title and failure to obtain Minnesota registration within 60 days of residency.

A woman with a revoked license and no insurance was also intoxicated, according to a breath test, following the erratic-driving “pull over” at Cleveland and Larpenteur avenues on Jan. 19. The 22-year-old was booked at the jail after blowing a .13 percent BAC.

After matching a vehicle at Snelling and Garden avenues Jan. 23 with one on their active, stolen list, police pulled the 25-year-old male driver over. A quick investigation proved the vehicle not to be stolen, but the driver was arrested anyway for no insurance and driving after license revocation.

A 30-year-old man, stopped for a traffic violation at Hoyt Avenue and Coffman Street on Jan. 25, was arrested for driving after license revocation and no insurance. His passenger, a 29-year-old woman, was wanted on a Washington County felony warrant for her arrest for fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance, fleeing police and theft. She had given an officer a false name in this latest run-in with police and was cited for that, as well.

Lauderdale

Going postal
The 28-year-old received an email from her ex-husband Jan. 21, violating the order for protection she had against him. The 39-year-old ex-husband received an arrest citation in the mail a day later for violating the order for protection.

Fussy prowler
A vehicle parked in the 1600 block of Eustis Street was broken into Jan. 25 and rummaged through. The 27-year-old owner said there was nothing missing.

Obstinate
A 49-year-old man, still driving although his license was suspended, was stopped Jan. 24 at Como Avenue and Hunting Valley Road for failure to yield the right-of-way. He was also cited for failure to provide proof of insurance.

Was ready for summer
A pair of roller blades, clothing, shoes and a sleeping bag were stolen from a 22-year-old woman’s vehicle Jan. 25, parked in the 1600 block of Eustis Street.

Little Canada

Funny money
An employee at the Rice Street bingo hall, counting the day’s receipts late on Jan. 28, picked up a $20 that “felt a little different,” so she ran it through a few tests designed to spot a counterfeit bill. Bingo! The $20 proved to be bogus and was turned over to the authorities.

The tip of the iceberg
When the man received a letter from a cell phone provider thanking him for opening an account, which he hadn’t, he did the right thing: he began the process of filing an FTC identity theft report and called the sheriff. When someone has stolen your identity, the “thank you” letter is often the tip of the iceberg that something untoward is afoot and should move you into action.
