Don’t hide the key under the potted plant

Arrests, Thefts and more around Falcon Heights, Lauderdale, Little Canada and Roseville - Roseville Review police reports Nov. 11, 2014

Falcon Heights

Hit-and-run
Following an Oct. 24 crash at Snelling and Larpenteur avenues, a driver stopped just long enough for the other driver to get her license number, then drove away. That information led to the arrest of the absent driver—a 32-year-old woman—for leaving the scene of a crash and driving after license suspension.

Lock your doors
These homeowners did. Burglars attempted to force their way into a residence in the 1500 block of California Avenue during the daylight hours of Nov. 4, damaging a door, but failed to get inside. Police are interested in talking to a pair of male occupants in a white SUV last seen in the area of Crawford and Arona streets.

Texting while driving
A 20-year-old woman was arrested Oct. 24 at Cleveland and Larpenteur avenues for driving without a valid Minnesota license and texting while driving. All Minnesota drivers are prohibited from texting while driving, and, according to CBS News, texting while driving is now the leading cause of teen death in the U.S.

Lauderdale

Buzzed
Speed, an open bottle and a .16 BAC—twice the legal limit—can be a lethal combination. But luckily for all the drivers in the area of Pleasant Street and Larpenteur Avenue on Oct. 24, including the 33-year-old buzzed female who was booked at the jail, everyone was okay.

Recovered
A vehicle stolen overnight Oct. 26 in the 1700 block of Eustis Street was recovered in Coon Rapids Oct. 26 with the 20-year-old thief still inside. His location was quickly changed to the Ramsey County Jail.

Little Canada

Don't hide the key under the potted plant
It's often the first place they look. We don't actually know if that's how the burglar got inside the townhouse in the daylight hours of Oct. 28 in the 2300 block of Greenbrier Circle, but the key was gone and there was no damage to the door. The residence had been ransacked, but the only items missing were an iPad 3 and a purse containing a debit card, later used by the burglar to purchase a tank of gas.

Quandary
Mom wanted Dad gone after he slapped her and grabbed the 25-year-old by the neck Oct. 30, but first 26-year-old Dad had an appointment at the Ramsey County Jail on a gross misdemeanor domestic assault charge. Dad had been the sitter so now what to do with the two kids when Mom goes to work? It's a quandary and Ramsey County child support services will no doubt be involved.

Theft
There was no shortage of possible suspects in the theft of a Kindle the afternoon of Oct. 22 at Capitol View Area Learning Center in the first block of County Road B2. A Ham Lake seventh grader had secreted the reader inside a three-ring binder, but after the classroom emptied out, the $120 device was gone.
