Armed robbers raid Walgreens

The Maplewood Police Department is investigating an overnight armed robbery of the Walgreens Pharmacy, 2920 White Bear Ave.

The suspect made repeated threats to shoot store clerks, and left the store with an undisclosed amount of money. No one was injured.

According to police reports, at about 3:30 a.m. Oct. 24, Maplewood police officers were called to Walgreens on the report of an armed robbery.

Employees reported being confronted by a man whose face was mostly covered by a scarf and who was wearing a black hooded jacket, dark jeans, and dark-colored boots. The man pointed a silver handgun at them and demanded money from the registers.

Despite a search of the area, the suspect was not found.

A short time after the Maplewood robbery, a Walgreens in White Bear Lake was robbed by a suspect with the same description. Investigators from the Maplewood and White Bear Lake police departments are coordinating their investigative efforts and working to determine if the robberies are connected with others in the metro area.
