Joanne Schoen receives education award
Joanne (Joey) Schoen, lead teacher and assistant director at Dodge Nature Preschool, received the 2014 Kate Davidson Tanner Award for teaching from the Minnesota Association for the Education of Young Children. MNAEYC representatives, members of the Kate Davidson Tanner family, and Dodge Nature Center staff and board members joined the preschool staff and Schoen’s former preschool students in congratulating Schoen at an awards reception on Thursday, April 24.
Schoen is in her eleventh year teaching at the nature-based, experiential preschool part of Dodge Nature Center in West Saint Paul. She is a well-respected and distinguished teacher amongst her colleagues, students’ parents, and the young children she educates.
In partnership with the Kate Tanner Family, MNAEYC created the award to acknowledge the important work done every day by early childhood professionals.
Kate Davidson Tanner was an early childhood educator recognized for her strong commitment to making a difference in the lives of young children in her Crocus Hill School in Saint Paul. The award is annually presented to an individual working in an early childhood program who demonstrates excellence in his/her profession.
